A unicellular seed hair obtained from the fruit pods of the kapok tree Eriodendron anfractuosum ( formerly known as Ceiba pentranda).
Note. The fibre is also called ceba, ceiba, Java cotton silk cotton, silk floss etc. Indian kapok comes from Bombax malabaricum.
