Pongee

Originally and traditionally a light-weight fabric hand-woven in China of wild silk in plain weave. The term is now also applied to fabrics having a similar weight and appearance, power-woven, and made with yams other than silk. If of cotton, these fabrics are usually mercerized and schreinered.
